Unblocking ActiveX with XP SP2

Somehow, when I installed service pack 2 for WinXP, the Windows Update ActiveX control was blocked from loading/installing. Now I'm completely locked out of Windows Update, since you can only access it with IE. My computer is not receiving automatic updates anymore either.

Any way I can reverse this? I've already tried adding microsoft.com to my "trusted sites" list.

you should be getting a message across the top of your browser window, asking if you want to allow the active content to run or not. try turning your popup blocker off. you might be able to catch it there.

I don't get the bar. It loads the page, says "Windows Update is checking your current configuration" or something, and then just sits there and doesn't do a damn thing.

otherwise its called Internet Content Firewall and you can turn it off. MSO0-028 and SP2 are a joke. I ran XP SP@ on one of me home nachines but I would never install it on my work box I sell Compliance software.
