unbelievable

howard,
Augie was Augie by representing FSU and Texas with total class. When asked what part of the game he was watching, he, in about 30 seconds, explained pitching and catching rhythm, then infield and outfield rhythm, and tied that all back to pitching, and what he is watching. Obviously, Augie says it a lot better than I am right now.

He played there from 1959-61. He was on their first team to go to the CWS in 59.

His number "1" has been retired; he had a lifetime .380 "something BA.

Augie also has a plaque behind the home plate stands at Fullerton, dedicated a few years ago when we were out there to play CSF.

Cosner showed up for a post-game ceremony in which an official (I think it was the athletic director) announced the honor bestowed upon Augie. His was only about the 4th such plaque in Fresno State baseball history, among them Kotsay and Nevin, IIRC.
