Umpires Strike Again - CWS

Wow
First base umpire gets confused, points foul on a fair ball, and costs Stanford 2 runs in the 9th in a tie game at the CWS.

If that had happened to us...wow...I can only imagine

Make that two...

Did you notice on the double down the line the umpire didnt point fair or foul? hahaha He just left his hands down at his side.

Fortunately for the ump Stanford promptly scores 11 runs and his call has no effect on the game. Pretty clear he meant to signal fair and his brain was doing that his arm was just pointing the wrong way. Human error nothing more.

Another blown call tonight in the LSU/UNC game calling Landry out in the 8th. Probably didn't effect the outcome of the game, but it cost LSU a run and killed a rally. It wasn't even that close of a call.

LSU got beat, that needs to be said first.

Way down the line though, past everything LSU didn't do, that ump didn't help. If it was a makeup for the previous call, it's a helluva time for a makeup and frankly, something that has no place in the final level of competition. And it's a shame that the CWS can't get quality umps these games deserve.

The one before him was a bang/bang play but I thought he was out; not super clear but from watching a ton of baseball I thought he was out. The next one was also bang/bang but clearly he was safe.

On that first one, why didn't the 3B just tag the base runner? Is that not the correct play to make? The double play was out of question when he hesitated so why not touch the runner heading to 3B? Am I missing something? The guy running to 3B cannot head back to 2B as the bases were loaded and he literally was about to run into him. Is the smart play to avoid that and throw to 1st?
