UM

That settles it. If Chip Brown reports it, it has to be cast in stone. Has the guy ever been wrong? Has one of his sources ever fed him ******** to make him look bad? Not that he needs any help.

I guess I'll cancel my invitation to Urban to come deer hunting at the ranch the week after Christmas. Probably should invite Herman, but I'm afraid to be that close to him when he has a gun.

The "official" reason will be health concerns. The most likely reason is the he couldn't pry the ohio state guys he wanted other than his son in law.

I know some here won't want to here it....but if he does not come here the most likely reason...regardless of what is said publicly....will be the culture (and perception of the culture) surrounding our program right now. It isn't good, it isn't healthy, and it isn't inviting

It is hard to hear. I can't imagine a coach or a top recruit giving us the time of day. Well, maybe except for a kid that grew up like Sam.

Forget recruiting for 2021 and 2022....The new coach will be starting from scratch with a bare cupboard that will make Charlie's situation look great.

I don't think our cupboard will be bare. We have a #17 ranked recruiting class for this year right now. Hopefully it improves a bit. But if other teams can perform well with a class like that, with some other decent classes around it, we should be able to also. Not saying this situation is ideal. Not saying Herman is the answer. But I don't think we are dead in the water either. Question going forward will be can Texas overachieve? We rarely do, but there's no reason we can't. The narrative within the program needs to change. This "We're Texas" attitude doesn't intimidate anybody and it just feeds our players sense of entitlement and superiority. That doesn't cut it.

It is imperative that we get the right guy--either next week or next year-to lead this program. Meyer was a fantasy, and getting spurned for all the nation to see doesn't enhance our stature. It hurts it. But the right guy is out there. Somewhere. We just have to figure out who it is. Not easy.

I seem to recall a similar situation in the Mackovic years. Virginia Tech demonstrated in a bowl game that they weren't the least bit cowed by Texas and its grand traditions. They came to play, hard. Symbolized by a coal miner's lunch box that they kept on the sideline.

Texas will still likely finish with the second best recruiting class in the Big XII. The problem is that Texas keeps losing to the TCU's and Iowa State's of the world, the cold hard fact is that Texas has to start beating them before the discussion can even turn to Oklahoma and anything national. Texas is getting the recruits to beat the rest of the Big XII yet consistently loses 3-4 conference games. Win those then things wll improve.

This class might be ranked 17th but it is not good, beating out Houston Baptist, Texas State, and Abilene Christian for athletes isn't good. We beat out top teams on maybe 3-4 players is all. And, most of the commits that we have, were the lowest ranked offer we gave out at this position. OL recruiting horrible with one of the best OL classes in the state in 10 years... Texas will be a liberal arts school from now on... I've quit my Longhorn Foundation donation, won't be renewing season tickets, and saved at least $800 on UT merch for Christmas presents. So bummed CDC whiffed on Urban....Order the tarps for the end zones, DKR Texas Memorial is going to be empty in 2021....

With the one year pass on 2020 eligibility there should be a selection of upper classmen looking to extend their football career and scholarship efforts. The new class 2021 coming in will take up scholarships, the Grad transfer, portal transfer and 2020 extra eligibility will have many, many opportunities
