Tristan Thompson and Jordan Hamilton from Texas both say they are staying. If they chenged their minds, where would they project?

Thompson is a lottery pick. Hamilton is also a lottery to mid first round pick. I believe Thompson more than I believe Hamilton. Again, it's early. Plenty of time for these kids to change their mind.

BTW (I'm Scott from Chicago)

Son of a *****. I am surprised TT would be a lottery pick, purely because of his height (or lack thereof) and lack of an outside game. Dammit. We are a VERY strong team - refs trying to ***-rape us notwithstanding - with TT, JH, JCB, CJ and MK as our likely starting 5. Actually, JCB would probably still be 6th man, and we'd have a bigger body at the 4, have JH at 3, and have MK and CJ at 1 and 2, respecitvely.

Scott from Chicago, quit making it apparent to TT that he is so highly valued!

See Maurice Evans, Daniel Gibson, and PJ Tucker as examples of how much the value of a degree from the University of Texas means to Rick Barnes' players. Every single kid that has played from Texas under Barnes has bolted at the mearest sniff from the NBA. TJ said he was coming back too. Nope-Tristan, Jordan, AND Cory will leave IMHO. JCovan gets a lot of shots for a 10 seed team next year! Then at least it'll be defensible to people should we lose in the 1st round.

"He was one of the few early departing players in any sport at UT that I think was totally justified in taking that fat contract"

Who are you to determine if any of our student athletes is "justified" in making a decison that affects the rest of his life and has very little affect on the rest of your life.

barnes encouraged tj to bolt. knew it was the best thing for the kid

I guess I don't know anything about projecting a draft because I just don't see TT anywhere close to being ready to play pro ball and at 6'8" he's got a lot of work to do to contribute. He's not going to be able to post up most of the 4s in the league and he has no outside game at all. Even as a defensive stopper, he's going to have to get a bit bigger. As a 4 he's gotta cover guys like Duncan, Gasol, and Dirk, etc.... As much as I like TT I just don't think he's ready but what the hell do I know. Clearly not much.

Yeah, well, you know, that's just, like, your opinion, man.

I agree by the way.

TT has just as much game as other 6'9" guys playing forward in the league. I don't think it's a matter of him not being 6'11"... it's more how coaches use him. He's probably not going to dominate his position for years to come, but he can contribute just as much as guys like Darrell Arthur. His speed and footwork separates him from the rest of the bunch, especially in a weak draft year like this one. He got outplayed badly by Arizona because he had no help for a guy who was our only post presence. He would get it in the NBA.

Hamilton, on the other hand, would need to work on a lot more before being NBA-ready. His ball handling and decision making skills aren't what you need to see out of a swingman or shooting guard. He should have been hitting way more shots toward the end of the season; his shooting percentage dropped big time in conference play. And instead of being the postseason leader, he let a 6th man take that role over.
