...so UH hired a new baseball coach today, which is funny because I didn't know they had fired Noble.

What happened to that guy? UH had a great baseball program at the beginning of Noble's tenure, then just disappeared.

His career trajectory has always reminded me of Smith at Baylor.

thanks for the link.

didn't Noble have a role in reporting Augie's NCAA violations? or was it Smith?

for some reason i have a very vivid memory of listening to Ontiveros' homer to beat Cougar High at Cougar High when Cougar High was good at baseball.

whenever I think of Noble, I think of Larry Coker. Now that guy had a rubber arm, could pitch all day long, and then turn around and play first base all night long.

One of the TCU assistants, Todd Whitting, got the job. He is a former player and coach there I believe. He worked a lot with TCU's hitters and INF play.

Coach Whitting should be a nice fit down there. He is responsbile for getting TCU's best players from the Houston area, though recruiting kids to UH will likely be just a bit tougher than recruiting them to TCU.

Sure would like to see Texas recruiting some more Houston kids as we did in putting together our old NC teams.
