UGH. 'WhenU' popups

Anybody else plagued by these infernal "WhenU" popups? Damn, they are annoying. Their "FAQ" (stupid me) purports the company to be willing to let you remove the offending downloaded software causing the popups, but I'm sure it's all a ruse.

Any recommendations? I'm beyond pissed. What a horrible marketing strategy -- piss off your potential customers.

It got into your registry. Try one of the various sweep programs. And stop looking at porn.

Try "SpyHunter". You can download it. However, it will not remove programs unless you buy it, but it will identify the offending programs for you. You just have to go in an manually remove them.

I installed Pop-up stopper's free edition and it stops everything.

Do NOT, repeat do not try "Spy Hunter". Spy Hunter eliminates other popups and then puts its own brands of popups on. There have been a number of threads on anti-spyware and anti-malware on Quaks. If you want free removal tools try: (1)Ad-Aware, (2) Spybot,(3) Bazooka and (4) Spy Sweeper. You can download any of these free at download.com
Each one functions a little differently and will catch some bad stuff that the others don't. Bazooka finds stuff well but doesn't remove it. The other three will help you remove it. Once you really know what you are doing you can use another program "Hijack this" to mess with the registry if anything remains. But that isn't for beginners. Try the other stuff first.

bazooka sometimes gives me problems with my mircosoft applications. if i delete spyware with it, sometimes excel and word will try to install themselves when i open them, or give fatal errors. system restore does the trick on that.
