Interesting article from ESPN... what do y'all think?

UCONN women vs. Centenary men

Yes I know the UCONN women lost to Stanford, but I still think it makes for interesting talk. I personally feel that the men would win by 30+ every time.

I am not being sexist or anything of the nature, I just feel that it's 2 completely separate ballgames.

Biology just makes it too speculative a question. Tennessee used to scrimmage against their men's team and would be competitive for part of scrimmage but just couldnt hang with them.

A better competition would be against a really good boy's high school team. The ladies would have a skill advantage and the boys' athletic advantage wouldn't be as much as a men's collegiate team.

Findlay Prep or Oakhill Academy against the UConn women would probably be a good game, although I would have my money on the boys.

It's a different sport. It would be impossible for UConn women to actually compete with any college men's team unless it was JUCO, only had 5 men, and were uncoached.

Now if it was a 3-point or FT shooting exhibition, I wouldn't be surprised if most women's teams beat teams like Texas or Kentucky. Probably not Duke though.

FW, the Tennessee women never scrimmaged against the men's collegiate team, they scrimmaged against men's intramural teams at Tennessee, until the NCAA outlawed it.

In any game between the UConn women and men:

1) What size would the basketballs be?
2) Would there be a 10-second back court rule?
3) Would men be allowed to dunk (lob passes)?

I saw the UConn-Stanford game solely because of Geno's big mouth. It was so flawed (shot-put tree pointers, terrible ball handling, poor shooting overall, bad court awareness) that I finally began switching to a mid-level bowl game (Tennesse - North Carolina) which turned into a great game.

So we had an elite women's game versus a bowl game (I can't even remember the name) that was way down the rung.... and I ended up watching the bowl game...

There is no way UCONN could compete with a D-1 team. NO WAY!!! Good HS teams would beat them. Last year's Yates team would beat them by 70+.

As someone stated earlier Tenn. and even UT women used to practice against intramural teams. These guys weren't great athletes, weren't much taller, and weren't college level players (obviously). If they were to play good HS teams with height, athleticism, and skill they would get killed!

As much as people want to talk about how fundamental the women's game is, those fundamentals would look VERY weak against top level athleticism and strenght, and the men's fundamentals and athleticism would seem amazing when defended by unathletic, short women.

All the elite high school boys teams would tear them apart. There's too much of a difference in strength, height, and physicality. This year's Findlay team would win by at least 50 (assuming they play a collegiate length game) and that's probably on the low side. Who the hell would guard Myck Kabongo? He's 6'2", meaning he's post-height for a women's college basketball player.

As 3ball stated, the worst matchup other than a team with a guy like Andre Drummond or Cameron Ridley would be Yates. I can't even see UConn getting the ball past half court. Yates could beat them by a hundred if they played a 40-minute game.

An average boys high school team would lose to UConn or Stanford. The top boy HS teams would not. A below average boys high school team would lose to many D1A college womens teams.

My high school was a 2A private school and we usually weren't even very good at that level. We could have beat the girls teams of the best public high schools around, but if we played the Longhorn women we'd have been run out of the gym handily.
