Do we want them to win or lose? If they lose it is conceivable we could pass them for the #1 seed. If they win, that means Stanford loses, who is also ahead of us. Also, we really don't want to end up being the #2 out West with UCLA the one.

All I know is that UCLA is going to be screwed in the tourney when they don't have PAC10 refs to bail them out whenever they're in trouble.

Damn, that Russell Westbrook has some serious hops.

That was one of the cleanest blocked shots I have ever seen.

A definite homer call.

The one thing I detest about basketball is how the refs get intimidated and give home teams all of the calls more or less. It is why most teams have tremendous home court advantage. I think Texas Tech is something like 16-1 at home. Not saying we lost because of that by any means because we shot so poorly and still almost pulled that one out. But watching home teams getting almost all of the close calls is absurd.

There are however some exceptions...

Teams like Duke (especially) and North Carolina get a lot of those calls on the road because of who they are.

Thank goodness this does not happen in the tournament however I think Duke and NC still get the benefit of the doubt even then.

Thank you UCLA and thank you St. Joe's. They knock off the 7 & 8 teams respectively that are right in front of Texas. Now, if the Horns can take care of business: beat OSU, win at least 2 in the Big 12 tourney, then it will be very difficult for the committee to keep them out of Houston as a 2. Obviously anything can happen, but with the resume Texas has, it would be a nice reward.

Very much so. I can't think of anyone who wouldn't prefer to face 16, 8, 4 instead of 15, 7, 3.

Yeah, if the seeds are "accurate" and matchup problems aren't the issue, it's much more desirable to face a 4 than a 3. I don't know about an 8 over a 7, but it's almost a lock that a 15 is much better than a 16 (which are usually reserved for the auto-bids from crummy conferences).

My point was that being out West will be a disadvantage regardless of seed if a matchup against UCLA were to occur.

I'll take the 15, 7, 3 (and 1 if it's Memphis) in Houston any day. I know you have to win 3 games before you even have a shot at the Final Four, but I see no logical reason for wanting to be a #1 out West.

UCLA is my 2nd favorite team. Great comeback last night, although I have to be honest: that late foul call was absolute BS. I feel horrible for Stanford. Of course, UCLA might have tied or won it anyways since there were still 2 seconds left, but WOW was that a bad call...

I don't want to see the Bruins again until this fall in Austin. Give me Memphis, Houston, and a #2 seed and I am a happy boy.

Anyone have a link to that "foul" at the end of the game? People have been talking about it sheepishly all morning on SoCal radio.

they really don't impress me at all and Stanford should have won last night.

btw, the UCLA basketball cheerleaders are by far the hottest group I have seen in years (pro or college).
