Uchi

Wow.

Ate there for the first time last night. I can't stop thinking about the hamache.

It was well worth the 2 hour wait. Plus we were there with good friends we hadn't seen in a long time. A perfect dinner!

I STILL haven't made it there. I even have about 2 or 3 PM's from crayon, regarding what to order. I must make this happen soon.

went there again last friday night. just as good as i remembered. that sashimi & goat cheese appetizer is excellent and as far as sushi nigiri is concerned, i could easily get addicted to their seared escolar. duck was great as well.

agreed. on a side note, i don't recall ever seeing another post by HoopsRule after you went with that signature.

damn, i have heard so many great things about this place -- i wish i could convince my wife to try sushi.

i have just recently started to get into sushi, and my sushi eating experience is largely limited to the sushi station at whole foods at lunch with coworkers and the (very) occasional dinner at mikado because they have duck and steak entrees the lady will eat.

do your research on what rolls (and even sushi nigiri) contained cooked meat. you would be surprised at how high that number actually is.

cap -- i appreciate that. i know a lot about a lot of different foods and a lot of about cooking. and i have no problem admitting that sushi is something that i am a novice at and am open to learning a lot. and enjoy doing it while i do.

i think i had early experiences that were not so good and that kind turned me off until recently. my first exposures were to things that were fried, had avacado and other vegetables, strong sauces, more rice then fish, etc.

and its just taken me a while to figure out that i should steer away from rolls, and stick with sashimi and ngiri. i can really appreciate the fish. i pulled up uchi's regular menu and it made my head spin, it sounded so good.

man if they were just open for lunch.

just looked Uchi up on the web.... looks great. I had it confused with an ultra trendy sushi place downtown.... I can't remember what that one is called. I will say that for my honeymoon my wife and I went to a pretty high end all inclusive place just south of Playa del Carmen. The resort had several restaurants all of which you had to have reservations for. I was a bit surprised they had a Japanese place (called Azia). Because it was all inclusive I could get plate after plate of sashimi. WOW.. I don't know how much salmon and tuna I had, but it was nice..... I just gorged on as much of it as I could.

the over-rated trendy place downtown you were thinking of is called Kenichi, and I'll probably never eat there.
