U.S. Olympic women's soccer...

The first half was on this morning over breakfast prior to leaving for work, and this group looked like some six year olds without adult supervision. I've never seen so bad a team play soccer-although I'm not a big expert.
Ugly game, and I see we never scored, losing 2-0. They looked bad, seemed like every pass was intentionally made to the other team. Almost unwatchable, glad I had to leave for work.

Yeah. That was pretty bad. I'm torn when I watch the US Women's Soccer team compete. On one hand, my daughter plays competetive soccer at a very high level and I DO love the sport. On the other hand - like the men's basketball team - they're so cocky when they play some of the smaller countries. They don't handle adversity very well. When they get in a tight game, they turn into Italy -- a bunch of whiners and foulers. I don't really mind seeing them lose.

As per the game. It was dreadful. They lacked fundamentals. It was stupid soccer which, by the way, get ready for the same thing from the men. For some reason, the US Soccer Federation insists on putting players on the field with the absolute worst coaching staffs.

And one more thing... I think it may have been Judy Fowdy doing the color. Whomever it was -- SHE NEEDS TO SHUT THE HELL UP! Good God, it was like listening to my wife's grandmother at the dinner table. Blah, blah, blah, blah.....Just let the players play the game. We don't need 95 straight minutes of yapping.

Alright. Up at 5AM tomorrow for the Men.

Sometimes I wonder about the comentators in sports such as basketball, soccer, etc. It seems they get off the game and talk about other things and a big play sometimes happens while they are blabbing and even then sometimes they finish what they are saying before they get to the play. They should stay on the game while it is going in my opinion. I remember Howard Cossell woudl tell stories back when he was a broadcaster but he had the sense that if he wasn't through and a play was about to start he would say "More on that later." and then let the announcer announce the play.

I knew we were in trouble without Abby. I felt with her we might have a chance to get a medal. Without her I don't think we will. Gone are the glory days of Greece.

That was a painful match to watch. It can only get better - can't it?

Horrible passing for one. No ball control at all. Boxx was clueless. Passing back to a streaking Norwiegian (and not in a good way). Chastain was right...more space less pace. They just looked completely lost. No rhyme or reason to anything they did. They attacked thru the middle over and over when Norway was simply packing it in instead of the wings. Go figure.
