The company is getting me a laptop to work with from home. Only stipulation is that its a Dell. The only Dell LT's I've used have been Latitudes. Any recommendations?

What's the budget? Will you be traveling with it, or is it merely a home office PC? Mostly Office apps, or will you be doing multimedia stuff?

Trying to keep things right around 2k. Its mostly for use at home and running predominantly office type apps, nothing media intensive.

I think you'll get more bang for your buck by going with Inspiron. Latitudes are tradionally geared for road warriors.

DO NOT GET AN INSPIRON.

They are flimsy pieces of junk meant for the consumer market. Mine gradually fell apart from casual use. On the other hand, my Thinkpad has suffered through numerous road trips and held up very well.

I'd go with the Latitude. It is supposedly built to hold up better than the Inspiron line.

haha..no kidding. well, we have a latitude in the office right now that's had a keyboard fail twice in the 1 year we've had it. So, they're not much better it appears. Think I'll take a chance on the Inspiron where at least I get more bang for my buck. Thanks for all the opinions.

I've got the Inspiron 300m with a detachable "media base"......it has logged 1,000's of miles and numerous hours, and has performed excellently.

Almost all notebooks are built in Malaysia and Taiwan, regardless of the company you purchase from. Therefore, go with the one that has the best warranty package because you'll need it
