Good lord......

Tyler Summit resigned from La Tech after not only having an affair with one of his players (reported to be Brooke Pumroy) dating back to his days at Marquette, he has also apparently impregnated her.

I am no perfect person, and I am no judge, but I just don't see any possible way for him to ever make it out of this and return to the coaching profession at any level.

Certainly not in the women's game. He was hired as HC at age 23. I suspect that AD will never make that mistake again.

Pretty sad story and a shame he's soiled the Summit name. Worse yet, he's married and there's a young pregnant girl left in the wake.

Whatever happened to that coach from LSU who got fired/forced to resign when she got caught having an affair with one of her players? I'm blank on her name right now.....Pokey(?) or something like that.

Pokey Chatman is now a very successful head coach in the WNBA.

LA Tech not granting any releases of signed recruits for now (at least until a new HC is in place)...and several have requested it. They will have a small window to find another school IF they get a release. The carnage continues...

Guess if Pokey can make a comeback, so can Tyler. But 23 sure is young to be a head coach at any level.....guess his name got him the job in the 1st place. What a mess for everyone.....btw: how old was the player he had the affair with?

Pokey Chatman? She's the head coach/GM of the Chicago Sky in the WNBA - made it to the Finals a couple of years ago.

Well Pokey wasn't married and didn't impregnate a player, but she'd been in the business s lot longer which probably helped her move on in the WNBA. Like it or not, this time the heterosexual may suffer the consequences to a greater extent in a twist of irony.

I read Pat Summit's second autobiography. She lightly touches on the infidelity which killed her marriage. I'm sad, shocked that her son has done the same thing to his family. Be a man and keep it in your pants son.

It is a twist of irony, isn't it.

(fyi: If Pokey had "impregnated" a player, that'd be tabloid headlines.....)

Didn't know that Mickie DeMoss was Tyler's assistant coach and has been named interim head coach at LaTech.

True, but I don't think it's because of that, it's because a man is going to be more stringently judged for something like this than a woman is, by the majority of people of both genders.

It sounds like now the young woman is saying she isn't pregnant, and showing photos that prove it?
In my opinion, I think he has another chance at coaching. I think his young age will be taken in to account, and the fact that there wasn't a huge age differential between him and the player.
I in no way condone his behavior.
I think if he works his way up, as he should have in the first place, and behaves appropriately, (and is a good/great coach) colleges will look past this as a youthful indiscretion. I am a huge fan of Pat Summit, and would hope that some of her standards and morals would have rubbed off on her son. At the same time, he didn't have a normal childhood while growing up, and I believe in giving people a second chance, especially if they are young.
And the fact that it was by all accounts a consensual relationship.
I still think it was wrong, but I don't think his career should be over before he hits 24.

I think this is the other player who was also at Marquette trying to say that it was not her. Don't know about Tyler's future. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

I'm not saying his career in coaching should be over, but perhaps he would be better off rehabbing this in the men's game for now.

"So a female coach was passed over for the nepotism inherent in hiring a 23 yr old because his last name is Summitt.
Since Title IX was enacted in 1972, the percentage of women coaching women's sports has fallen from 90% to 40% according to a 2015 study."
