TX/OU Same Day Tickets

Has anyone had any luck buying cheaper tickets the day of the game near the fairgrounds? I've never tried before, but this year my buddy wants to go and won't pay much, if any, over face.

As a backup plan, has anyone ever gone to the fair but not gone into the stadium? Is there a decent place to watch the game inside the fairgrounds sans ticket?

Prices seem pretty low this year, so I'm holding out hope I can find something that will work for both of us.

There are way more TVs now than there were in 2004, the last time I went without a ticket. They're in a lot of the buildings.

In the last couple of years there have been stories of extremely persuasive-looking counterfeits
sold on the Fairgrounds. Buyer beware.

It is definitely buyer beware. The last time I bought on gameday, I paid a premium, but it was ten minutes to kickoff. The seller told me "you're gonna love these seats, 9 rows up" He didn't mention 9 rows up in the OU end zone. My advice, if you are buying on the street there, is print out a seating chart for the Cotton Bowl. A little sidenote: it apparently is illegal to scalp on the fairgrounds itself, so you can always try what one of my less liked OU friends did, and follow around a police officer until you see someone selling tickets, then ask "how much for those?"

Better practice is to buy off Swap Meet and have them in hand before you go. It is best to bear in mind that some LHF folks view this ticket as one way to make up for the cost of their donation

Yes... I've gone to the Fair/Stadium on Game Day without tickets and waited till just before kick-off and got a great price on tickets. Remembered that both teams are 4-1 and regional TV.
As suggested & before you go, know the stadium layout... you don't want to buy good tickets in the BlowU end, much less any tickets in the BlowU end! The tickets this year have hallow-grams on front & possibly the back I believe... If it's not raining, you should get a ticket/s for face value, maybe better!

I've heard of the $20-$50 handshake, but never have tried it!
Have fun...
