1 - Jorge Arrendondo's Tex Mex on 26th. For those that don't know, Jorge used to own Casita Jorge's, just off of Hancock with his wife. In the divorce, she either got the recipies or a non-compete clause. She also got the restaurant, and took it into the crapper. Now, Jorge is back - the restaurant has been open for a while, but I hadn't made it by until just last week - it's just as good as Casita Jorge's used to be - it's nice to have him back. FANTASTIC enchiladas, and salsa is fresh and spicy.

2. McCormick and Schmick's happy hour prices rock my face off. Burgers for $2, shrimp quesadillas for $3, hummus for $2 ... very, very good food to boot.

1. Last time I ate at Casita Jorge's, I got sick on undercooked chicken. And the margairtas always tasted like dish water. I will never eat that place again. Some of the worst tex-mex I have eaten in this town.

2. McCormick's happy hour sounds ok, but there food is far from very, very good. More like very, very overpirced average food.

casita Jorge's had good food from what I remember. I would probably go back.

The workers have always treated me like dirt at Jorge's, and that included the owner and most of his family. My friends and I have always tried to talk to the owner in a friendly manner, but he always blew us off or was pretty surly for whatever reason. Weird thing is I tipped over 25% the first three times I ate there. So, I think I'll head east or south for mexican food.

M and S is ok, nothing more. Value wise, definitely below average for Austin.

I have to agree on M&S... I've had better meals at Chilis. The atmosphere is nice, but the fact that people think that's fine dining in Austin speaks volumes about the state of food in our fine city. Nightlife, music, outdoor activities, fine universities, and great people we got... restaurants, we don't.

I hear M & S has a GREAT happy hour in terms of value. Really cheap and not bad (I've never been there). BUT - In terms of just dinner there, its not so great.

i live right behind Jorge Arrendondo's Tex Mex...i have eaten there several times and never have been dissappointed, except it can take too long at times...

they have really good breakfast tacos that are allsome hangover food...the Jorge taco or whatever it is called is delicious

Ate at Arredondo's last week. I asked about the connection to the old Hancock location and was told there was no connection.

The homestyle enchiladas are very good.
