Twins born on different days?

That's Right

I would have to imagine that with all of the sets of twins that have been born in the history of the world, there have to have been a few cases of one twin being born at 11:59 PM and the next at 12:00 or 12:01 a.m. Have any of you ever known or heard of twins with different birthdays?

I have twin boys, and belong to a local Mothers of Multiples group, so several of my friends have twins born on different days. It's actually not all that uncommon.

However, back in 1989, when I was pregnant for the first time, my OB-GYN delivered the United State's first set of twins that were born six (IIRC) weeks apart. (It had previously been done in Europe) The mother went into premature labor, and delivered one of the babies, vaginally. This helped slow the contractions down. The other baby was healthly, and in no apparent distress. So, the doctor sewed her cervix shut, and told her to lay in hospital bed, and "be an incubator". Six weeks later, the other baby was delivered. I remember him being interviewed on CNN, and me telling him that he better not charge me more to deliver my baby, now that he was a famous new celebrity!
