So the missus turns on the news this AM, I walked in the living room and the anchorman was a lovely shade of chartreuse.
She said she turned on the telly, and it just went *POP*.
Is this worth even trying to repair, or should I just haul the carcass to Goodwill?
Usually when we see a monitor do this, we trash it.

Depending on the type of TV it may be worth fixing. CRT? If so, it will probably be about as expensive to fix as replace. Get an estimate. If is is one of the nicer plasma doohickeys...I will be of no use to you.

Good luck.

Not plasma, this thing is about 12 yrs. old. Looks like it's a boat anchor.
Heck, Best Buy is running a 3 day sale. It's all about the timing.
The Tour De Lance is this weekend, and I do NOT want to see Lance in a green jersey.

That is just about as perfect as you could hope for. Do a little price shopping on the 'puter and you can make Best Buy actually give you the best buy. You can save the broken tv to smash over the heads of your stupid neighbors.

I don't know why anyone would buy a TV from anywhere other than Costco (other than the fact that they might not have exactly what you want). There are two reasons to do this:
1. The prices are better
2. They have a lifetime warranty on all electronics. Buy a plasma TV today, and in 20 years when it craps out, you take it back and they refund your money or give you a new one. I don't know how they do this, but it beats the hell out of any extended warranty.

I've had great luck with this refurb deal:The Link

When I bought it there was free shipping too. Can't speak for now. It is great for digital stuff like dvd's and XBOX. The CWS was awesome to watch on it. It is HDTV ready too. I still have not purchased a computer video card to try it as a high end computer monitor. Been too lazy to get that done.

I'm guessing you will go the best buy route though. Good luck.

Got a great deal on a Philips from Best Buy, nothing fancy, but I can watch Lance now.
AND I got to watch the Speaker Guys in action, removing $150 from some poor rube for a pair of crappy speakers.

the one I linked is far from the best out there but for the price it is great.
