TV and Interwebs - same crew?

Being as how I don't have TV, I watch these games on the webs. ASU, I watched on ESPN360. Crew was some dildo with a throat problem, Orel Hershiser, and some other dildo. Drove me nuts - sure wished one of our two radio stations had the game on so I could hear decent commentary...

Am I correct in assuming the TV broadcast had the same crew of imbeciles? Spent the first four innings raving about how great Mike Leake was and ASU in general, then shut up about that and talked about damn near everything BUT the game (thank God for the Ann Coulter lookalike down on the field, or they wouldn't have had a clue...).

Why on earth were the 3 Stooges wearing shirt/tie outfits? Ya reckon it's in their contracts that they have to?

I'll bet the UT crew is on WOAI... now, if I can just get it to start streaming again (heard a f'ball game or two last fall on WOAI, but then it quit working for some reason).

It depends on the stream. Stuff on ESPN360 is the same as ABC/ESPN broadcasts, but when I watched the 25 inning game, it was an entirely local production, with the radio broadcast overlayed.

Truth be told, it was a much better broadcast.

you lose a lot of credibility for not knowing who Erin Andrews is...and a whole lot more for making the comparion you did.

I've actually been thinking about the commentating quite a bit...mainly because there's been so much complaining about it here. as a preface to my comments, I usually like Sean McDonough a whole bunch -- not sure he should be broadcasting when he's so sick.

I do wonder what sort of demographics ESPN has projected for CWS viewing -- fans of college baseball or just casual baseball/sports fans. it appears they are convinced that it's the latter. they certainly target most of the color towards the general fan and seem to focus a whole bunch on how these guys project into the MLB.

with that established, I think they're doing a pretty good job of what they're intending to do. when I'm watching Texas play, it irks me a bit that they're not really calling the game like they should. however, if it's any other team, it seems to bother me less.

I think Steve Phillips is pretty solid. certainly a better commentator than he was a GM. and I think Herschieser is pretty solid is well. that said, at least when Texas is playing, I'd like to have Harld Reynolds back in the box doing color. a little bit less pandering to the MLB/casual fan would be a good thing.
