Turns out we have a Stealth Blackhawk

That is one bad *** looking bird. Were I back in AA school I would have yet another one to learn about and identify. Luckily there would be no sling loading going on with this one!

I don't think there is anything our military doesn't have, or if they don't now, they will soon. These guys went deep into Pakistan, flying very low to avoid radar, spent 40 minutes on the ground in a fire fight, gathering intelligence, loading a body, and got out almost totally undetected. What a country!

Turns out- whatever helicopters were used were not very stealthy, as one of Osama's neighbors was tweeting about the loud and noisy helicopters.

Awesome post, Shark. Obviously you have a different feel for what the heroes on this op went through than most of the rest of us.

When I saw your name I wondered how this compared to what you flew back in the day.

I'm assuming the flew NOE in, which is pretty low and pretty dangerous at night, to get under the radar. But I'm wondering just what kind of air defense system they had given the tensions with India and the relative proximity to Islamabad. I wonder if someone in the Pakistani military/government knew bin Laden was there, if there were extra air defenses or early warning radars in that region. Interesting stuff.

The scary part was how did the helo malfunction and if was due to the sorry state that so much of our equipment is in nowadays.

I don't post very often but felt it necessary to do so now. Shark4, I always enjoy reading your posts/threads and this one is no different. I would just like to thank you for your courage, bravery and service to this country. People like me wouldn't be able to enjoy the liberties that we have without the good folks like you in the military.

p.s. that pic of you in front of the helicopter is bad-***.

Looks like they left a little too much tail on the ground and the stealth technology might now go to the highest bidder. Shark, as mentioned by others, thanks for your service. Vets, no matter what war, conflict, etc. they took part of are tops in my books. I have a nephew in the Rangers and he just got back from tour 4 in Afghanistan. Great photo.
