Turks and Caicos

Anyone been there? Any recommendations on places to stay? General thoughts about the island? Planning a trip with the wife and daughters in July so any thoughts appreciated.

Hawk - I haven't been but will be going early next year. I've done a ton of research on the island and some of the best info I've gotten has been on Trip Advisor so check out that site. FWIW, it seems that T&C is gaining in popularity and soon won't be a hidden gem. From the pictures I've seen and the reviews I've read, the beaches are off the charts.

You'll probably want to stay on the island of Providenciales (Provo). I've whittled my hotel list down to three -- The Regent Palms, The Somerset and Villa Rennaisance. Check 'em out...all look like really nice properties.

Just be sure to look at trip insurance in case you choose to go. July in the Caribbean is hurricane time..

The Villa was one of the places I looked at, along with the Turks and Caicos Club. The prices were off the charts but the scenery looks incredible.

You want to stay on Grace Bay on Provo - the most beautiful beach.

If it were just you and the wife and you were on a budget, I'd absolutely tell you to stay at Sibonne - it's a little B&B type boutique hotel right on perfect stretch of grace bay. However, since you'll have the family there are probably better places. Don't stay at Allegro - I don't even know if it is still open, but we heard bad things about it. I recall the Sands being very nice, and I think Grace Bay Club is supposed to be super nice. You should try to have dinner at sunset at the Bay Bistro at Sibonne one night, especially if you can get a night out alone with the wife.
