Turks and Caicos - The Palms?

My 10 year anniversary is a year from now and I'm starting to plan the trip. Looking for an island that has great beaches, a resort with a nice pool and luxury accomodations. Trying to keep it under $400/night.

The Turks and Caico's sound very nice, specifically the main island of Providinciales. I've zeroed in on this resort -- The PalmsThe Link -- and wondered if anyone has stayed there/heard about it.

Also up for any other recommendations that fit my requirements.

Sticking with the T&C's, also looking at The Sands @ Grace Bay, T&C Club and The Somerset. If anyone has any feedback on those or The Palms mentioned above, much appreciated.

Don't ever post, but since you haven't received any replies, I thought I would jump in...

Stayed at The Palms for a week last May and we had a great time. The pool area is the best that we saw on the island and their beach set-up was also the best. Our room, one of the cheaper ones, was very large, spotless, and nicely decorated. Drinks at the pool bar are pretty pricey, but you'll probably find that anywhere on the island. Other than that, our only complaint was that the food in their main restaurant for dinner wasn't that impressive. Breakfast is fine, especially if you take advantage of the made to order omelettes, waffles, etc (included in the price) and the food at the pool restaurant was good for the two lunches we had. Our best dinners were at other resorts and you can't beat the atmosphere out on the decks at Anacaona (especially when there are fireworks in the distance as there were the night we were there). The Spa at The Palms was very nice and had a very good couple's massage there.

I would suggest renting a jeep and exploring some of the more remote beaches one day (The Palms will loan you towels and snorkel equipment) and go The Conch Shack for lunch and some local color. I also highly recommend parasailing for a great view of the island and the reefs below. We also went out to a uninhabited island for a day. They dropped us off with beach chairs, an umbrella, and a cooler with food, beer and wine. Good times, especially if you're looking for some 3:16 style action.

The Sands and T&C Club are not as new as The Palms and didn't look as nice. The Somerset wasn't finished when we were there, so I can't comment on it, but it looked like it was going to be nice. Overall, I highly recommend T&C and The Palms and would go back in a heartbeat if there weren't so many other places that I want to visit.

Hope you like to scuba dive. There is nothing else on the island to do. The ocean and beach is great but you will be bored if you want to leave the resort.

DalTex - Thanks for the endorsement...sounds like you guys had a great time. I've read a lot on Trip Advisor and things you mentioned have been noted there as well. Definitely plan the island day trip ;-)
