Is it just me or does he usually play like this against OU more often than anyone else? I remember the first sign that despite his shooting woes he could be a key player for us a PG was the home game against OU in 2009 I think. Admittedly we got some good luck in that one when Blake Griffin, after being held in check by Atchley for most of the first half, scored a couple of quick buckets and then went out with an injury. But regardless, Dogus played great in that one and I think has another game or two like that against the Sooners between then and now.
he does a great job of pushing the ball and really making people stop/defend him. also, the big guys screen off their guys to clear a path to the hole for dogus. he's a helluva athlete
I don't think anyone ever thought the guy sucked. He plays balls-out defense and is really fast (even after the ACL tear). I just thought Barnes made a terrible mistake by having Mason and Balbay on the floor at the same time. You can have one guy on the floor that can't shoot (even though Balbay hit a nice wide open 12 footer last night), but you cannot have 2. You are stuck with 3 vs. 5 on offense. No wonder the team last year imploded...
He had Mason and Balbay on the floor at the same time for defense and "spark," to put it nicely. The other guy he would have played instead didn't contribute jack. *cough*Bradley*cough*
Oh, I was mainly talking about the criticism last year. Can't really argue the guy has been an integral part of the team this year. Much different when he is on the floor with 4 guys that can score.
