Turkey crisis

Help, panic setting in. Is it too late to buy a frozen turkey? How many days should it defrost in the refrigerator? Is it too late? I know you are not supposed to defrost it outside the refrigerator. Should I buy only a fresh turkey at this point?

You should be fine. Just dont buy a 25 pounder or anything too big. I think a 12-16 pound turkey can defrost in 2-3 days in the fridge.

Depends on how big the bird is... You should still be able to take out of the freezer today and have read to cook wednesday or thursday. Also there is a rapid defrost method where you soak the froze bird in water and change the water every few hours.
Either way you have time... don't panic yet

Read the directions on the bird's packaging. Some of them can be cooked from frozen. I've done this before and no one could tell the difference.

It's not too late for an average size bird. You can also put it in a cooler to defrost a bit quicker - just keep it closed so air inside cooler stays cool.

Or just buy a fresh one. They're not all frozen.
