Turgeon tells Barnes

Moments after No. 3 Texas wrapped up its 69-49 victory over No. 16 Texas A&M on Monday night, Aggies coach Mark Turgeon delivered a message to winning coach Rick Barnes.


"I told Rick if they keep improving and stay healthy they can win a national championship," Turgeon said. "I haven't said that about many teams. I said that about Kansas the year they won it. I've been doing this 24 years and I haven't seen many teams as good as Texas."

He also added, "You're my daddy".

Is aggy happy with Turgeon? I recall him catching a lot of criticism in his first year, but he's righted the ship and is a class act.

aggy would do well to keep him.

turge is a great coach. we're all very happy with him. he's a great role model for his players.

despite our struggles as of late, i think he's done a pretty good job with this team thus far. before the season started, i thought we'd certainly be NIT bound.

there was a lot of hand wringing when oregon was coming after him this past summer.

the uninformed fans still play what if games on if billy g were still here, but i dont think that he'd find any more success than turge has had thus far.

I find myself agreeing with you way too often.

I would suggest, though, that you find another nickname for the Ag BB coach. "Turge" is just a little too close to a very unflattering noun.

Billy G would have been a living legend if he stayed. Aggy would have been better with him although I wonder how much of that success was because of Law. Even with the easy aggy schedule I am still amazed with their good record. Last year they were a good team, this year I don't see it although they looked good against Mizzou. Turgeon is a good coach though.
