Im no expert but I usually open a regular 6 or 8 oz can and add these to taste:
- chopped onion
- chopped dill pickle (sometimes I pour a little pickle juice in too)
- a dash of celery seed
- dash of lemon pepper
- start with a tablespoon of mayo, mix all together, add mayo until you get the consistency that you prefer.
This is my time-tested favorite method:
~2 6oz. cans tuna (in spring water)
~one-half cup chopped celery
~one-fourth cup chopped onion (I prefer red onion)
~2 tablespoons dill relish
~2 tablespoons sweet relish
~1 chopped jalapeno
~1 teaspoon horseradish
~2 tablespoons lemon or lime juice
~dash of garlic powder
~lemon pepper to taste
~1-2 tbs light mayonaise/Miracle Whip
~mix thoroughly to desired consistency
This has been working for me:
-1 can of tuna
-1 celery stalk, chopped
-1 dill pickle, chopped and/or 1 teaspoon of sweet pickle relish
-1 hard boiled egg, chopped or mashed
-1 teaspoon of mayo
-1 teaspoon of spicy brown or dijon mustard
- couple of shakes of pepper
- couple of shakes of hot sauce
Mix in bowl or container.
I sometimes add nuts (like pecans) and mabye some chopped apple if I have some handy. Some chopped bell pepper is OK, but for some reason I just don't like onion in my tuna salad, but you can add it if you want.
The hard boiled egg is less runny.
I open the can, pour the juice in the dog food bowl, which produces undying love, add the tuna to the chopped celery, mayo, various kinds of relish, and add chopped salad olives. Sometimes a little pepper, squeeze of lemon, or chopped nuts.
Put the can on the floor for the cat, to produce undying love.
Mine is similar to those above, except I use albacore tuna. More expensive, but I like the taste better.
a large can of albacore tuna
a spoonful of mayo (real mayo)
a squirt or two of mustard, regular or spicy
a teaspoon or so of lemon juice
a few shakes of lemon zest
a few shakes of parsley flakes or fresh parsley if you have it
some chives and/or green onion
I use celery seed because Mr. Lostman does not l ike celery
some relish (dill, sweet or both - just see what you like)
Mix all this together and then add 1 or 2 hard boiled eggs chopped up.
I have tried apple pieces, pecans, and some other stuff - while I like it, the rest of the family does not, so it is as above.
* 2 cans of tuna (6 oz)
* 1/2 cup chopped celery
* 1/2 cup chopped green pepper
* 2 tbsp of mt. olive sweet relish (no sugar added)
* 2 tbsp of central market wasabi mayo
really good. can likely make it better too. the central market wasabi mayo caught my eyes. sounded like it would add some kick while also probably being a bit healthier than regular mayo.
