After two outs Etier gets an infield single.
Marlow and Shaw both walk to load the bases.
Then Payon gets a fly ball up in the jet stream
in right that rides over the wall for a grand slam.
Payton with his second homer of the day makes
it 5-1 Texas after 2 innings.
Thornhill comes in to start the 7th and gives up
a lead off double. Two outs later a single scores
a run, then the side is retired.
Texas leads now 7-2 at stretch time.
It's over in Norman and Baylor's dream of an
undefeated conference season ends as OU
scores a run in the bottom of the 10th and OU
wins 1-0. It did take an unusual play though.
After a lead off single, the next OU batter tries
to sac him over. He pops it up and the Baylor
races to just short of the screen and catches
it. The OU runner tags and goes to second as the
throw was high or he would have been out.
Then a single scored the winning run.
After two outs yet another Texas error scores a
run. A fly ball in the gap in left center falls in.
Payton can field the bounce, then Walsh tries
like three times to pick it up and by the time he does
the batter has circled the bases. It's scored a
triple and an error. A fly ball ends the inning.
