I know a lot of folks don't think the problem will ever go away, but I really applaud the effort here.

This seems to be the biggest problem in college recruiting right now, and it is the reason UT has backed off from some high profile recruits, according to rumors.
There are family friends, hustlers, street agents, whatever you want to call them-but they are "shopping" some recruits, and giving them to willing bidders. This really sucks.

What about these so called Academies and private schools that exist, at least in part, to field all-star level teams of kids who often get to play an extra year?

I know we should always try to give kids every opportunity, but these schools are truly fishy.

I don't see those prep schools as being sleazy. It is like playing soccer or baseball on the select league teams, just better coaching, better preparation for the players. There may be some issues, but it isn't like an agent shopping a recruit around and asking for money for himself (or maybe part of it goes to the recruit's family, to the recruit, or who knows where?).

i look at those prep schools as magnet schools for athletes. i dont think there's anything wrong with them...

but the street agents thing is just flat out dirty.
