Troublesome teams in the tourney.

The St. John's thread got me thinking about other teams that will pose huge threats from less than the top 2 seeded spots. St. John's is for sure a dangerous team with a resume of knocking off top teams at various times in the season.

Virginia Tech is another one that can rise up for a game and give a top team problems. I know that goes for almost any team in the tourney but Va Tech is a team that when on their game can be tough.

Wisconsin is another but they won't be playing at home so that may take some of the vinegar out of 'em.

Who else?

K-State down in the lower 8-10 range would be scary if they are "on". We'll know more about them tomorrow when they have to play on the road - their big wins vs MU and KU have both been at home.

Of ranked teams, I think Louisville and North Carolina in 3-6 seed range could pull some upsets.

The way this year has gone, it wouldn't surprise me if this is the year a 5th or 6th seed rises up to take everything. Like NC St did some years back. There will be lots of fans crying in their brackets this year.

North Carolina, Georgetown, George Mason, Temple, Utah State, Florida would be some of the main ones on my list.

Also I think Aggy could rise up for a couple of games.

Kentucky could lose to anyone but they have also beaten some good teams. They absolutely destroyed Louisville and watching them play, Kentucky looked bigger and more athletic.

UCLA, Louisville and Syracuse scare me. All will probably be playing as a 6-8 seed and could really bust a bracket. It will be tough to pick those brackets.

Louisville will be higher than a 6 seed. Now that I think about it, I was probably wrong about Kentucky: I was thinking about them as a really low seed and playing a 3 or 4 seed. However, they will probably play a middle seeded team like the fourth best team in the Big 10 and lose. Yeah, I know that doesn't make a lot of sense, but they are the type of team to get up for a challenge like North Carolina yet not show up at all for a team like Xavier.

Notre Dame--starts FIVE SENIORS, including two fifth year seniors, though two of the players have only used three years of eligibility, and one has used only one. Scott Martin and Carlton Scott have a year of elibility left. Abromaitis can petition for a sixth year. They have four guys starting at 6'8", three of whom can take their man outside to shoot threes. They now have a 7-2 record against teams currently in the top 20.
