trip to Wrigley Field

Me and a buddy of mine are planning a trip to Chicago to see a Cubs game on July 16th. We are currently looking for tickets and was wondering what the best approach should be.

Is there an optimal place to sit? We don't care as much to sit close to the field as oppose to being where the best atmosphere is. It seems this would be in the bleacher seats but I could be wrong.

How much would tickets generally cost? I have been to a few Rangers and Astros games, but wasn't sure if these are generally cheaper than Cubs tickets. Is Craig's List a viable option? Or am i better off scalping outside of Wrigley Field?

Sit in the bleachers. Drink Old Style beer. I think I paid 65 for a ticket last year but it was against philly and I didnt buy them directly. The bleachers are GA so get there a little early if you care about where you sit. Train will drop you off right outside of the stadium if thats how you are getting there.

Youre in my wheelhouse

If you are going on a weekday and have access to a computer printer I am a fan of Stub Hub etickets. Remember they yank tickets off sale two hours before gametime.

Even if you dont buy from StubHub keep an eye on it on gameday as thats when people start getting realistic about the market for tickets.

You wont get anywhere with Stub Hub on the weekends.

If you just want to buy from a person go to any of the storefront ticket brokers on Addison. They are always there so they arent real motivated to try to screw you. I have used SitClose tickets with good results over the years. Right when you get off the L.

DO NOT buy from anybody on the street.

Bleachers will usually be at a premium because you are in the sun. Be advised it is a beating to sit out there. Gotta get there early and it will wear your *** out. Something to think about if you are wanting to make a day of it.

Bear in mind I am an old fart but a Wrigley veteran.

For a typical day game I get reserved seats somewhere lower level. You arent going to get closer to a baseball field anywhere in the majors. If you have reserved seats you can take in the pregame party scene which is awesome.

Go a couple hours early and hit Murphys Bleachers.

Post game I hit Bernies, Sluggers, or YakZees for more outside beers.

If you are for hitting the scene all night, Cubbie Bear is an absolute train wreck full of hotties. I recommend.

Bring an extra liver and have fun. Biggest outdoor bar in the world.

Excellent posts gentlemen!

The game is on a Friday so Stub Hub might be a great option.

Also, we're going to take an active part in the night lifte so those recomendations help.

Just back from Wrigley. I used Stubhub. If you get bleacher seats, which I highly recommend, get there early (1-2 hours) and either get front row or back row. This is particularly important if it's a warm day, gives you a little space from the crowds but still keeps you in the action. There is nothing better on this fine earth than the bleachers at Wrigley on a sunny afternoon.

I love the bleachers!! Yes you have to get there early, but if you want atmosphere that is the place. I would stay clear of Old Style- I drank that in high School (cheap beer). I know a lot of people think it is the the Chicago beer- but not so good!
