Tree removal question

I have a very large pine tree in my backyard which, unfortunately is not doing well. The tree is very tall and very straight. It has been suggested that a lumber company may be willing to cut it down in return for the “lumber potential” it represents (i.e. I lose the tee, they get the lumber.

Does anyone have any experience with such an arrangement…? Any suggestions who to call in the Houston area…?

Well, if there were a whole acre of pine trees, then they might have an interest. But for one tree, they can't make back enough on the manpower and equipment it would take on just one tree. I have cousins in the logging business in the Conroe area, and they basically harvest out of large tracts of land to get the lumber and other byproducts from such tracts.

My family owns a lot of tracts up in Trinity County, and usually the logging companies come out and do a 30% harvest in a specific area. Most of the companies have equipment to handle large cuts (flatbeds, that big machine that manhandles huge pines) but i don't know about them doing a single tree.

You could probably contact a local tree trimming company and ask them about removals.
