Tree Pruning

What time is the best time of year to do this?

I need it pretty bad on 3 large oak trees that hang over the house. There will be some heavy limb cutting involved. What can I expect to pay?

Best times of the year are dead of winter and the heat of summer...so you have about a 1-2 month window to get it done now.

I paid $1500 this past winter to prune a large red oak and live oak. You quotes may be higher now with gas prices continuously rising.

even though it has been in the upper 90s to low 100s this month (in Austin anyway), you should wait until July or August to trim oaks (that are susceptible to oak wilt). The beetles that transport the fungus(gets on their bodies/legs because they are attracted to the sap) are still active in June.
It's just not worth losing a tree or trees, especially if you have a mature tree that might be appraised at 10 20 or even $30K

Also, make sure your contractor (or you if you're a DYIer) disinfects pruning tools between trees and covers all "wounds" so that sap doesn't ooze to surface and attract the culprit beetle(s)
