Tre Newton?

why isnt there more hoopla about this guy? i remember when he was a Junior and he was tearing people up in the playoffs. he looked like he would be a bonafide stud in college. why does nobody ever hype him up anymore. did he have a bad senior year?

Tre is going to be a top athlete for Texas. The kid is tough, he's fearless and best of all, a high character type of guy.

I also watched him in the playoffs his last two season and though he could be a playmaker. He probably does not fit the ideal RB prototype but we have seen in the past that doesn't always give an accurate measure of the man.

I think given the talent I have seen from Tre and his history of winning at SL Carrol he could be a sleeper waiting to burst onto the scene. Now that Scott is in CU I hope Tre starts getting some more hype from horn faithful.

I'm no expert on Mr Newton but I have watched him play the last two years at SLC. He was a very good back but we all know the offense SLC runs and it's not really big on the power run...He obviously is good outta the backfield and can pass block...comfortable with shotgun formations, screens draws etc... he's also smart and makes very few mistakes.

Who knows whether he can develope into a back that can rush in the B12 for 1000 yards. He's not super fast. It's hard to tell how his vision is because honestly no one really geared up to stop SLC running attack. I doubt they ever saw a consistent 8 man front...heck probably not even a 7 man front unless someone rolled a 165 lb cb to the line

He's a good kid, smart and in the very least will be a solid RB for us.

Tre will do fine he is a running back not a track star. If my memory serves me I think a guy named Emmit Smith ran around 4.6 and he did alright.
