Traylon Shead

It sounds like Traylon Shead will be getting an offer this coming Jr. Day. Shead is a RB out of Cayuga, 6-2, 205, 28th on the LSR 100 with offers from A&M, SMU, TCU, Baylor, Houston, and Tulsa so far. My understanding is that Shead is a perfect RB for the spread offense with good size and speed. Traylon Shead

I see this as an interesting development for a couple reasons. The first is, this would be a dagger for aggy, who has made Shead one of their top priorities. I view aggy is pretty insignificant right now though.

What makes it more interesting is how this will affect Lache. Obviously we keep a ship open for Lache until the bitter end, and I would think it wouldn't sway Lache one way or another, but who knows.

The last thing this tells me is that all the other RBs that have been talked about are not in the current plans, including Dontae Williams (7 on the LSR 100) and DJ Jones (16 on the LSR). From what I've seen on those other 2 guys I must say I'm a bit surprised. Hard to question the staff in the long run though. We'll have to see how it pans out at the upcoing Jr. Day.

He looks pretty good, runs with good power and doesnt have awesome speed, but pretty good speed. Breaks arm tackles consistently and runs hard. Maybe a smaller, but al ittle faster than Whaley?

Seastrunk is just amazing though, I still hope we can land him.

Noone is catching him from behind in those youtube highlights. Has good vision, not extreemly quick, but he could grow into more.

A? Damn, no wonder they are never catching him. Still looks good though. I've always prefered the bigger backs myself.

Shead can be a standout RB at Texas. He's the type of back you would sign any year. Seastrunk is headed to the SEC anyway.

If we get Shead, and either Dontae Williams or D.J. Jones from Denison, it will be a very good running back recruiting class for Texas, no matter where Seastrunk ultimately winds up.

Coolhorn I agree. I think we will get some good running backs out of this class no matter what. What do you think of 1A players? I know many years ago they did a study that proved the the best college players came from big cities and bigger schools. I think one of the reasons besides the large number of players was because they had the best coaches and best facilities. But now I feel there are many more good coaches going around who are better trained at the college level so that the small schools can get good ones too. Plus the smaller schools are now spending the money for better athletic facilities. That makes for even more good players around the state.

1A or not, those are video-game like numbers he has. If those rushing totals are correct, he's only 1259 yards away from the 2nd highest all-time rushing total in Texas HS history. And if he can add 34 more TDs to his current total (102), he'll be #1 in that area.

We missed the boat on Jacquizz Rodgers, don't make the same mistake twice. Give the guy an offer.

and from the looks of it, aggy is devastated and bickering amongst each other about not trying to compete with Texas for recruits.

Shead is gonna be an outstanding back at Texas, 1A or not. He's a great start on our running back class...now I'd like to see us bag Wilson, Jones, or Princeton Collins to go with him. I agree that Seastrunk is a longshot at this point.

If he eventually starts in the backfield with one of our quarterback recruits, you could say that we'd have an offense that takes the other teams to the "WoodShead".
