Read the Palestie Herald press online and it had the story in there of Frankston beating top ranked Cayuga 33-26. Traylon Shead ran for 166 yards on 26 carries and scored on runs of 2 & 22 yards. Also scored a two pt conversion. He needs to average around 225 yards per game for 16 games to have a shot at breaking the record. Cayuga jumped out to a 14-0 lead in the first 5minutes of the game.

saw that. sounds like traylon held up well but there were lapses elsewhere. congrats to frankston for playing a smart, hard fought game.

i've wondered how much this record business is a distraction. traylon seems to be a very level-headed kid. i hope he can just let things play out as they will and simply enjoy the season. he won't get to be a high school senior ever again.

Cayuga is 1A and Frankston is 2A. Frankston returned 8 offensive and 8 defensive starters from a 6-4 team.

Week #2 he ran for 290 yards on (I think) 26 carries, to give him 456 yards for the season. That gives him 8052 for his career and leaves him 3180 short of Kenneth Hall's 11,232. If he gets 14 more games and makes it to the state championship he would need to average just over 227 yards per game.

I haven't heard how he is doing yardage wise, but I heard he broke the TD record last week. Jefferies from Caddo Mills, who I think may be going to K-State, broke the record that Jacquizz Rodgers held. They announced it at the Denton stadium. But Traylon passed him and his team won so he should add to it. Anybody know for sure?

Yes. he did break the record last week. I was at the game. He had 205 yds at half, but do not know total for game. I was very impressed with his speed once he turned the corner.

He is up to around 9800 yards rushing and 137 touchdowns. He has potentially 2 more games and should be able to break 10000 but he won't make it into the top 3 nationally, I don't think. He's already #2 all-time in Texas for rushing yards and #1 in rushing TDs.
