Travis Ford to Ok. State.....

Well I guess he'll have two years to prove himself, or else its the T Boon ostridge in his *** on the way out the door.

There was a lot of discussion the last couple of weeks about whether or not OSU is a big-time or traditional basketball school. I think this answers the question. They made it known that they were willing to pay $3M+ for the right guy and they are building an athletic village that will supposedly be the envy of the NCAA and they best they can get is Travis Ford? I actually think he has potential, but it seems like they realized pretty quickly that they weren't as desirable a destination as they thought. Too bad Petrino isn't a hoops coach.

Krueger would not leave Las Vegas for either of those slots. He makes pretty good $ at UNLV, the administration and fans are really behind him, because of the debris left by Tarkanian expectations are not excessive and it's a good place for him to run out the string, and, importantly, Mrs. K apparently likes living in Las Vegas - BCS and Stillwater would be a step or two below one would think.

From the "inside sources" down here, ones which turned out to be remarkably on target over the last few days when probably 98% of OSU fans didn't even know who he was much less that he was in the picture, OSU didn't even interview or ask to contact Gillispie, despite it being known that he was interested. Move past Self and Billie, though, and I'm not sure who you'd throw your millions at who is actually available. You can't fabricate a head coach to then lavish your money on.

By the sounds of it, after the Self debacle Ford was on the short list, not that they picked up the only guy interested. If Pitino and Donovan were both advising Kentucky to hire this guy just last year before Gillispie ended up with the job, I wouldn't be poking too much fun at them. I've seen what OSU is building down here, it's more than just old man Boone's deep pockets (and even if it wasn't, doesn't matter much, they've got a boatload of cash either way). They've got the facilities, with a seemingly endless list of new ones coming online, the fan support, and the money.

This guy's game style may not be a fit with the Big 12. I dunno. I do know OSU went 23-13 and 17-16 with an absentee coach. If this guy is half as good as Pitino says, it could be interesting.

(Should also note that Boone's choice after Self was Gillispie, and he still wasn't contacted.)

I seriously doubt if Boone wanted Gilli that Holder would say he isn't even going to contact him.
That's not the way it works when TBP's is the Gepetto of OSU's athletic dept.
Believe me, OSU was throwing the bank around to land anyone who could fog a mirror.
I bet it took triple the amount that Ford was making at UMASS to go to OSU.

BTW: OSU ranks next to last in endowments in the Big XII & your "fan support" didn't show up to capacity in football or basketball this year (unless you count the women's sell out vs. OU)
