Traveling with a suit

I still use a garment bag, so not much experience with a roller. At least for me, keeping the suit in the dry cleaning plastic bag helps to keep it from wrinkling.

I always rolled the pants instead of trying to fold them.

For the jacket, I gave up. Tried to fold it neatly, then at the hotel I would put it in the bathroom with hot shower running for 20 minutes or so to get it all nice and steamy. Warm (not hot) iron after that and any wrinkles were usually gone.

I roll just about every garmet that I have when I pack. I have found that it cuts way down on the amount of wrinkling that you get when you fold.

Yes, use three of the clear plastic dry cleaning bags: one for the shirt, one for the coat, and one for the pants. They'll be fine when you get them out.

When carrying a suit, I lay the pants out on the bed and lay a plastic bag over the top and then roll the pants like a burrito. I wear my jacket on the plane and hang it to avoid getting it wrinkled.

My technique was (I'm retired now, tee-hee) to carry my suit, shirt, and tie onboard in a light-weight suit bag (like they give you when you buy a new suit, not one of the heavy canvas or vinyl jobs that match your luggage). The clothing was not put into dry cleaner bags or anything else, just the suit bag. Being lightweight, it's easy to carry around. I took care to not fold it over at any time. Lay it flat or hang it up.

In the plane I put it in the overhead bin on top of everything else so it wouldn't get squashed and wrinkled. If the flight attendants would hang it up, all the better. I would hang it up at the hotel right away and use the steam iron to remove any wrinkles that might have appeared anyway.

On the return flight, I would usually be wearing the suit (i.e., I would be coming from a meeting that day), so the hanging bag would be folded and stuck into my brief case, eliminating any carry-on baggage.

Just cut the sleeves off the jacket.
This won't do anything for the wrinkles but people won't notice.
