For one, check this board late next week. I'm presuming that Orangeblood will post the location of his Saturday tailgate at the stadium.
The team is playing, so we'll be there. We're staying with friends in Omaha, so we probably won't be in Lincoln on Friday night, but we might persuade them to drive in for that evening. If you still haven't found a place to hang out Friday night, PM me.
And in response to the prior post, Husker fans have always been fine toward us. They've almost always smiled and lived up to their reputation as "nice" fans. In 1996 after the championship game, on the way to Ozzie's in St. Louis, an entire light rail car of Husker fans applauded us.
Lately, though, they've gritted their teeth and smiled because of the increasing pain of their 1 - 8 record against us. But I've never had a Husker fan say anything negative in all the years we've been going to games in Lincoln.
Since they have abandoned the Big XII (largely, I think, because they can almost never beat Texas), I'm expecting that some of them may use it as an opportunity to show their real feelings toward Texas and its fans, and just unload on us -- especially if they win. We'll just have to see.
Same scenario as Arkansas when they bolted for the SEC and we had to play the last game in Little Rock in 1991. Older son and I went to the game. The pigs won and were more surly than usual after the game. On a side note, that was the worst game I ever watched the horns play. We lost 14-13 missing two field goals and an extra point.
Both sons and I will be attending the game in Lincoln, so I am hoping the Nebraska fans will not act like Arkansas fans.
We are flying into Kansas City and driving to Lincoln. I haven't made that drive before, but hopefully it wont take over four hours.
I'm also interested in local intelligence for fun to be had, regardless of what happens at the game. Of course I hope the horns prevail, but I plan to enjoy the weekend in Lincoln regardless!! I'm making the trip, and time is my scarcest commodity!
Orangeblood started a nice thread over at the Husker forum, with lots of useful details about places to go, etc. Thanks! Here's a link. If you don't have time to register, I'll try and find the time to pull out the useful nuggets and post them here. The Link
I have attended a Husker demolition in 1996, 1998, 2002, 2006 and will be going back this year. I am preparing for ******** as they were PISSED in 2006.
My patented response this weekend (on Big 10 move) "I hope you find what you are looking for. I think Texas will be OK."
Hitting Misty's and Sidetracks on Friday. Pulled a parking spot for Saturday and will try to hook-up with Katy and Bob.
Driving from KC is easy -- takes right at 3:15. See you there.
