I know many of your are expert travelers, so I'm calling upon you for some guidance. I'm traveling to Costa Rica this week for a wedding. Anyone know what's the safest amount of cash to take with me? Is there a way to tell if Costa Rica accepts American dollars? Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks and

All major credit cards are widely accepted. You will find ATM machined distributed throughout the country.

I had the wonderful opportunity to travel to Costa R in 01 on the company dollar and was fabulous. No problem with them taking the American dollar. Cannot speak for credit cards but suspect no problem, from what I remember others did use it.
Have a great time. I did.

Thanks for all of the advice everyone! Costa Rica was amazing! Very beautiful place and all of the locals were very nice.

FYI: credit cards are pretty widely accepted, even found an ATM that dispensed american dollars and colones. And they love american dollars, but you get colones for change.
