Travel trailer trips

I'm thinking of renting a travel trailer and hitting the road for a long weekend with the wife and mutts. I've never done this before, but sounds fun.The trailer will have a shower/shitter, so we're not camping or anything, but would like to use it as a home base for some long, scenic hikes.

Any advice or suggestions for trips out of Austin?

First of all,

What are you pulling it with?

Based on the size of your pulling vehicle, and the size of the rental trailer, you'll want to factor in MPG and the cost of fuel.

We want a smaller trailer, under 20'.
Going to pull it with a Land Cruiser, so the gas cost will definitely sting, but I'm prepared to just grin and bear it.

Close to Austin - Pedernales Falls State Park or Inks Lake. You are close enough to hike Enchanted Rock, too. Longer weekend - go to Big Bend National Park. Great threads on all of these places already on this board.
