Travel Must Haves

Have a 20 hr flight on thursday, want to make sure im not forgetting something that is a must for a long international flight. What are your must haves?

Excederin or some headache med's.

Immodium, just in case. I hope you never need it but let it be needed just one time and you don't have any.

An extra shirt or something to roll up to use to make your "pillow" bigger.

Carry your Right Guard or something with you if you can. Freshen up just before leaving the plane.

Condoms in case your flight attendant or a passenger...how's your game? Maybe you don't need them.

I thought the longest commercial flight was a 18.5 hr flight from Newark to Singapore?

Newark to Hong Kong was pretty freaking long too. I think it was 18 hours 30 minutes or so. This does not include the 5 hour delay at Newark which has to be the shittiest airport in the United States.

On my trips from Austin to Manila, I always take a shower in the business lounge after the longest leg. The showers in the AA lounge in Narita are quite nice.

I also always have a computer, and usually copy over a UT game that I haven't seen in a while. That is usually good for 3-4 hours. Pick one of the Rose Bowls for a special treat.

I try to only sleep a few hours on the plane. I find that the jetlag is much less severe if you just wait to crash at your final destination.

A good page-turner book is also helpful for when you are stuck without electronics - or if your computer dies.

I usually check my bags. It is much nicer to stroll around the business lounge without lugging along a big bag.

I always wear slip-on type shoes. This is much nicer than having to put on tennis shoes every time you want to get up to go to the restroom.

Isle seats are obviously the best. You can get up and stroll around at your leisure. I hate having to crawl over someone just to get up and stretch - especially if they are sleeping.

Noise canceling headphones are also nice. I picked up some Sony over-the-ear ones for about $100. They aren't perfect - but they do the job on a 24 hr+ flight.
