Has anyone here taken the Trans-Siberian railway?

I am trying to reserve tickets from Ulanbaatar to Beijing, but this is the hardest leg of the trip to reserve tickets for. Has anyone traveled this leg?

Has anyone been to Mongolia period and knows anything about traveling by train there?
