training a dog

Thinking about getting a 3yr old Beagle from a friend. She has been an outside dog her whole life. If I were to get her she would be an inside dog. I have owned 3 Beagles before and have one now, so I know all about Beagles. I just have never tried to convert one from outside to inside.

Any suggestions?

I would hit up some Beagle forums online. You will surely have people on there that have gone through this and have a dedicated love for the breed. Hope this helps.

Quick question. Having been a Beagle daddy before, do you agree with the thinking that having two is easier than just one? Both my sisters have one and wish they had another to make things easier. That breed has great personality and a great, if not mischievous, sense of humor.

If you're worried about potty training, I don't think you should be.

I've adopted 4 dogs: a weeks old puppy, a 6 month old, a year old and a two year old.

Only the puppy had to be trained. The others had all spent the majority of their lives outdoors, and had no inclination to go to the bathroom inside. However, these weren't beagles, but yellow dog retriever mixes.

A potential problem could be destructive behavior, as the dog could be bored inside. I've had success with Kong hard rubber toys, stuffed with biscuits. And If your current dog is also a female, there could be jealousy issues
