Train Station Performance Art

I first saw something that had to do with train station performance art when a group of people suddenly "froze" in Grand Central Station for "5 minutes" according to the video intro. That was around January 2008.

Grand Central: The Link

And then tonight my mother sent me a link to a video of another thing in the Central Station of Antwerp, Belgium that happened ~March 22nd of this year.

Antwerp: The Link

In general I'm not too in to performance art (in fact I dropped an Art History class at UT, because I couldn't be bothered to study the "artists"), but I kind of like this stuff.

I watched the Grand Central performance. It is/was both cool and funny at the same time, especially watching all the "WTF?" looks from the regular (non-actor/artist) folks who are walking through the station.

I guess the trick is to get all the actors to rehearse and know what "normal" everyday activity they will be doing while frozen, but which is different from each other so as NOT to appear scripted (i.e. it is so well planned/rehearsed that it doesn't look planned/rehearsed).
