Townes Van Zandt in Longhorn Cap

Just finished watching "Be Here to Love Me: A Film about Townes Van Zandt." The 11th anniversary of his passing was New Year's day.

I had listened to his music for many years and just got to where it was just too painful to listen to anymore. Especially "Marie." His music is so sad and beautiful that the mind just doesn't know how to process it.

So this show comes on tonight and I can't turn away from the TV. I'm choked up for the last 30 minutes watching him drink his last chance at an album to death. Then the credits come on and he tries on all those hats.

He grabs the Longhorn hat at the very end and I just start smiling.

If anyone has that pic, I'd be forever grateful if you were to post it. Much appreciated.

Just saw it on Sundance. Could not stop watching it. "Dead Flowers" and "Waiting Around to Die" are two songs that will can put a lump in your throat.

TVZ should have been much more famous, but probably wasn't because of the same thing that made him talented. Same way with Steve Earle. Hell, I went to see Steve in 95 just after he got out of jail because I didn't think he would live another 6 months. It's a shame that such talented people have to have such demons.

If you like TVZ, please take a minute to look at the Sam Baker thread I just posted. Same type of songwriter but without the chemical demons. He had other things that created and pushed his gift. I just learned about him this past week and have blown away.
