Tour of California

Hope to see Stage 2 in the Bay Area, maybe at Tunitas Creek. Then flying down to visit my sister in San Diego, hope to hoof it out to the Palomar climb. Should be entertaining.

Great post, Maximus.

Man, it's really quite amazing, the list of big names that are in this race. Leipheimer, Landis, Armstrong, Basso, Boonen, Cavendish, Voigt etc...

It should turn into the premiere early season stage race in the world. Eventually all of the top teams will come.

1) Compare the (normal) weather between California & Europe at the start of the year.

2) California is amazing and has all types of landscapes. It can easily offer nearly every visual and challenge that the Tour, Giro, y Vuelta offer

3) Teams can come over before the race and train for a few weeks leading up to the race.

There is no reason to think that this will become anything but a mini-Grand Tour.

Don't look now, but despite crashing over a fallen motorcycle, a flat tire, and another fall, LA is in 4th place overall.
This is an exciting event-the mountains, the rain, the big names, the comeback racers-too bad the video coverage keeps crapping out due to inclement weather.

Yes, he has said he will be a domestique extraordinaire for Levi.

That being said, with the Astana team being this loaded, a podium finish for Lance is not out of the question

This is an exciting race indeed and well done by Versus. Of course it is not up to par with the Tour de France but it is great nevertheless.

He beat him once, and judging from Stage 2, Levi looks to be in excellent form. I believe Solvang will be Levi's. More so considering Cancellera is out

I'm really not into biking these days - unless one happens to pull out in front of me when I'm driving - but I really hope the one nut wonder does well.

I probably offended someone in spandex with that last comment - I meant cycling, not biking.

Levi won the time trial in nearly perfect weather on Friday. THIS (the weather) is why this race will continue to grow in prestige and ultimately will be see as the kickoff race to the year.

very put together tour with the alot of the big hitters in attendance. I didn't know that Carlos Sastre was there (he supposedly dropped out Sunday before the start). Huge crowds, big climbs, wicked sprints. Very good job. Astana looks sick tough. Looking forward to seeing them win a few more this season. Nice seeing LA in the front doing some heavy pulls.
