I saw one of the last days of the Tour of California two years ago. That was the first year of the event. Last year I missed it (in Ireland) and this year I'm gone from Cali as well. But it starts up this weekend I think.

The ToC isn't an official top level race. It's more of a preseason training race. But according to this article, that could change.
