Tour de France

I can't even describe how angry I would have been if I was one of those riders. The closest I came is playing basketball with a scrub UT football player: The guy dived for the ball and hit me in the knee without even touching the ball. As I was writhing on the ground, the guy asked me whose ball it was. I couldn't get up to hit him, but I sure as hell tried. Still, I don't think that is anywhere close. This could have ruined a few people's career and it obviously ruined any prospects they had for the race.

That was truly amazing. I can't believe the riders were able to continue. What an idiot driver, but I guess it is a miracle this does not happen more often.

Lots of crashes in the first week.

Unreal how the first week of racing has gone. So many GC riders crashing, losing time, or being knocked out of the race. The scene of Chris Horner lying motionless in a ditch was sick, how he was able to complete the ride is beyond me...dude didn't even know he had crashed.Horner Crash The first part to:36 is right after he rolls over the line, and the second at 2:53 when he's being put into the ambulance....yikes!

Some great finishes to the race so far though, Tyler Farrar winning on the 4th of July was cool and Cadel Evans winning on the Mur De Bretagne over Contador was even better.

Contador doesn't seem to be in great form right now, and his team was nowhere to be found yesterday. Maybe that will change on Thursday when they get into the meat of the mountains. I think(hope) it will be one of the Schleck brothers or Evans pulling on yellow in Paris.

Both of yesterdays crashes were really bad, but the France TV car driver should be shot for he did....or at least thrown in jail for a little bit. All those riders are lucky they didn't get killed. Hoogerland is really lucky that fence was there to sort of break his fall....just unreal to see.Flecha & Hoogerland Crash

The drama is building. After today, it looks like the Galibier/Alpe d'Huez will break the backs of all but the strongest riders. Contador looks to be gaining strength (and making time), the Schleck brothers are lurking on his wheel, Voekler is hanging on for dear life, and Evans, if he can survive the next two stages, may be sprint his way to yellow jersey.

Amazingly, Voekler retained the yellow jersey by just seconds. Andy Schleck rode full throttle and singlehandedly broke several opponents, including Contador who is now done. After today's carnage, Cadel Evans is still in striking distance. The Tour is still up for grabs.

Alp d'Huez looks to be the kingmaker.

Andy needs more time on Evans IMHO. The brothers are not the best TTers on the planet. What a Tour this has been, just amazing to watch, almost every stage has had a lot of drama, from the crashes early on to Thor Hushovd's TWO mountain stage wins.....one of which was over the Col d'Aubisque, Garmin has become my fav team of the tour just because of Thor.

Loved, loved, loved seeing Contador being dropped on the climb today by Voeckler and Evans, couldn't happen to a nicer guy!

This last week has been allsome already with two more drama filled days to come.

Nice ending. The three on the podium seem like good guys. Contador not so much. Plus, Contador probably should not have even been in the race.

Now we wait to see who has doping issues. Somehow this sport has got to clean itself up. Not sure how, but I would think very stiff personal and team fines as well as lifetime bans should be in the mix.
