tough one - repairing old video tape?

This may be of interest to some others of my age who have the old VCR-tapes of their kids.

Well, some of these tapes are getting old - I'm going to transfer them to CD/DVDs. But first I need to have some of the tapes repaired.

As they have some very fond memories on these tapes, I want to salvage as much as possible and would like to find a reputable and qualified company to repair the tapes.

Have any of you been down this road before ?

there are several under 'video production services' in the yellow pages- I used on a few year ago when my puppy at a friends honeymoon video

they spliced it and put into a new case- this was before DVD's. I thought it was on Burnet Rd (Austin) but don't see it listed anymore

I've had good dealings with Affordable Video on W 6th st. My wife used them for reproductions and I've had clients who swore by them.
