Torrent questions

First off, I could have sworn I posted this last night. I think I'm going insane.

I'm thinking of trying this out. Is there any advice you'd like to share? Aren't there different ones to use? Which one has worked best for you? How 'bout sites. I think suprnova and a tvtorrent or somesuch. Is this another Kazaa-like vehicle for spyware?

i've tried 3 different bittorrent clients, bittornado, abc, and azureus. i like azureus the most by far. by spyware, if you mean within the client itself (which kazaa aps were notorious for) i don't think any of them have those sort of bugs. of course, you should know exactly what you are downloading.

as far as advice, i'd google "bittorrent faq" first. one common problem you're likely to see: if you are behind a firewall, you will need to forward some ports to get the best speed. the faqs should cover you there. also, throttling your upload speed may give you faster downloads in certain cases. you just have to experiment with it, and azureus gives you lots of options to tweak those things.
