Torchy's

Did anyone notice that a new Torchy's Tacos is going in at 28th & Guadalupe, in the space vacated by Dog Almighty? It looks to be near complete. It goes without saying that I could not be more excited. Actually I guess it now goes with saying, since I already said it.

More info, please. What is Torchy's and why are you excited? Why should I be excited, which I am on the verge of being from your post?

Torchy's is a little taco place. They have great queso; I prefer the beef fajitas and the Republican (menu attached above). They always have a taco of the month that is great too.

noticed it last night as i drove by after getting some queso and tacos from changos

i have heard nothing but good (and great) things about torchy's

anyone know when they are scheduled to open?

The pork taco, forget the correct name, is outstanding.

Democrat rules as well.

Their queso and salsas are outstanding.

their torchy's sauce or w/e its called... very strange, almost thousand islands dressing appearance, but packs a punch. had torchy's for the first time a week ago. very good, queso has some good kick to it. very much an austin style place.

It appears the moment is nearing, as they have taken down the "Opening Soon" signage. It looks like the finish out is complete. I am hoping for a Memorial Day weekend grand opening.

I have to say I'm a little surprised that so many people have not heard or tried this place. It's the best taco in town in my opinion. The green chile pork taco is just plain allsome.

i've tried it in both corn and flour tortillas and both were outstanding. I'm not sure what the new location will be like, but the trailer location on South 1st is pretty cool. It sits along Bouldin Creek. They have speakers in the trees, bean-bag toss, bball and a firepit. cool place to chill out.

If you haven't been, make a trip soon.

Torchy's on Guadalupe opened this morning. For those who have not been there yet, let me warn you that they fry their own chips there (which is great); so be careful where you put the bag in your car. If you do accidently put it in your seat, it appears that five coats of leather conditioner is the magic number to remove the oil stain.
